I am skilled in a wide variety of approaches based on my 10 years experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and 13 years in private practice as a psychotherapist (see below).

A session lasts for 50 minutes. My fee is determined by your income and runs on a sliding scale from £50 to £25.

The initial 30 minute consultation is free. I believe that you should have the opportunity of meeting me without cost before deciding whether or not you want to confide in me.

I am well-supervised and professionally indemnified.
I abide by the ITA Code of Conduct.

My professional experience in therapy is as follows:

I trained as a Mental Health Nurse in 1990, qualifying in 1993. I worked in an acute admission unit for two years. I moved on to work in a therapeutic community in London training in psychodynamic groupwork. Following this, I relocated to Essex and was responsible for initiating a therapeutic groupwork scheme for Peter Bruff Admissions Unit, N.E. Essex Mental Health Trust.

I then worked in a semi-secure unit in Colchester, combining forensic and therapeutic nursing. I worked for four years in two day hospitals (in Oldham and Rochdale) counselling clients primarily using client-centred methods. I also ran groups using a combination of CBT, Client-Centred Therapy and Transactional Analysis.

I trained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at The Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy from 1996 until 2000. I left nursing for private practice in 2000. In 2008, I was endorsed to supervise and train psychotherapists by the European Association for Transactional Analysis (EATA). In 2010, I was invited to assume the Training Directorship at the Liverpool Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I now divide my professional life between Calderdale, Manchester and Liverpool.

My approach:

My approach to therapy and counselling varies according to your needs.
You may come to therapy feeling the need to solve a problem. Or you may need to unload to somebody willing to listen. Or you may not know why you need to see somebody but you have a vague, felt need to do so (a lot of folk are motivated to come for an initial session without knowing why, in my experience).
Whatever the case, you are welcome to book a free-of-charge initial assessment. You can contact me on 07990541229 or via email: jon@jonpearsonintegral.co.uk
